{"id":61805,"date":"2023-04-21T11:55:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-21T15:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/docket\/?p=61805"},"modified":"2023-04-17T11:56:32","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T15:56:32","slug":"2023-southeastern-minority-job-fair-semjf-registration-now-open-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/docket\/2023-southeastern-minority-job-fair-semjf-registration-now-open-2\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF) &#8211; Registration Now Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/docket\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-1.png\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-1.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A National Diversity Interview Program for Students from Southeastern Law Schools<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When: Thursday, July 13 &amp; Friday, July 14 (10:00 am to 6:00 pm EDT)<\/strong><br><strong>Where: Online (Flo Recruit Virtual Interview Platform)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stetson Law\u2019s Registration Period April 17 \u2013 May 12, 2023<\/strong><br><strong>Students Must Complete Registration To Be Eligible to Apply:<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/gCPBwFHGsN\"><strong>SEMJF Interest Registration Form<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2-18: Optional Employer Information Sessions<\/strong><br><strong>June 12-19: Application Period<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is SEMJF?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A national recruiting event with a 30+ year track record of success.<\/li><li>A chance to interview for summer and entry level post-graduate positions with top law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations.<\/li><li>In 2022, 144 employers representing 37 states and Washington, DC conducted over 2,150 interviews.<\/li><li>Employers participate to diversify their candidate pool; they review applications and select candidates for interviews.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why Participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SEMJF takes place at the start of the recuruiting season, giving you a jump on the competition.<\/li><li>Exclusive virtual Information Sessions with sponsor-level employers provide opportunities for you to learn more and make networking connections.<\/li><li>You may submit up to 20 applications and may receive up to 10 interviews. If selected, you will have virtual conversations with employers with an affirmative interest in you.<\/li><li>SEMJF is an interview bootcamp. After as many as 10 interviews over 2 days, you will be an expert on fielding questions and delivering your personal pitch.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Part 1: Registration and Review Period<\/strong><ul><li>Registration begins on April 17<sup>th<\/sup> through 11:59 a.m. EST on May 12<sup>th<\/sup>. Students must register here: <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/gCPBwFHGsN\">SEMJF Interest Registration Form<\/a><strong> <\/strong>\u2013 Reach out to Dr. Sarah Deonarinesingh in the Office of Career and Professional Development with any questions (<a href=\"mailto:sdeonarinesingh@law.stetson.edu\">sdeonarinesingh@law.stetson.edu<\/a>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Registration does not obligate you to apply, but you can\u2019t apply if you don\u2019t register.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Registered students will receive access to their Symplicity account on May 24.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Opportunities, containing specific hiring criteria, preferred qualifications, and geographic locations for which the employers are recruiting, will be viewable beginning on June 2.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Some employers will present Information Sessions during the review and application period. Details will be available in your Symplicity account.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Part 2: Submitting Applications (June 12 &#8211; 19)<\/strong> <ul><li>A Resume and Diversity Statement (<a href=\"https:\/\/semjf.org\/diversity-statements\">https:\/\/semjf.org\/diversity-statements<\/a>) are included in every application.<\/li><li>Some employers also require a Cover Letter and\/or a Transcript.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A Writing Sample will be required if you are selected for an interview. &nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Specifics of the application process will be provided to those who register.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The application period opens on Monday, June 12 and closes at 11:58 pm EDT on Monday, June 19. The deadline cannot be extended, so plan ahead!<br><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Part 3: Selections and Interviews<\/strong><ul><li><strong>Submission of an application is your commitment to an interview if selected<\/strong>. You may not decline interviews unless you withdraw from the Job Fair entirely.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Interview\/Alternate selections will be available for viewing on June 29.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>You are limited to 10 Interviews\/Alternate selections (combined). If you receive more, you will be contacted by your career center for assistance with preparing a decline list.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Interview times will be scheduled for you, and will be available on July 7.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Individual scheduling requests cannot be accommodated.
