More than 1800 students from 67 countries competed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12233\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12233\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC_1518.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12233\" title=\"Stetson's Vis team (L-R): Mike Rothfeldt, Paul Crochet, Meagan Foley, Alex Zesch and Lisa Tanaka.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/DSC_1518-300x182.jpg\" alt=\"Stetson's Vis team (L-R): Mike Rothfeldt, Paul Crochet, Meagan Foley, Alex Zesch and Lisa Tanaka.\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12233\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stetson&#8217;s Vis team (L-R): Michael Rothfeldt, Paul Crochet, Meagan Foley, Alex Zesch and Lisa Tanaka.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stetson\u2019s team of Crochet, Foley, Michael Rothfeldt, Lisa Tanaka and Zesch competed against students from Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Germany, the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and the United States during the five-day competition, March 23-28, in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p>The Vis Moot was started by the United Nations Trade Commission 20 years ago as a global educational initiative in international commercial law and dispute resolution.<\/p>\n<p>This year, 296 teams from around the world competed. Forty-nine of the teams competing this year in Vienna were from highly ranked U.S. law schools.<\/p>\n<p>The Stetson team was one of only two U.S. law schools to advance to finish in the quarterfinals of the competition. City University of Hong Kong won first place overall.<\/p>\n<p>Professors Joseph Morrissey and Interim Director for International Programs Stephanie Vaughan coached the Stetson students.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/index.php\/2005\/03\/28\/stetson-university-college-of-law-wins-world-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stetson won the Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Eisemann Award and the overall Vis Moot competition in 2005<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/international\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Excellence in International Law<\/a> is the nexus of international advocacy at Stetson, housing academic programs, the Institute for Biodiversity Law and Policy and the Institute for Caribbean Law and Policy, hosting international advocacy competitions and offering study abroad opportunities around the world.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about international programs at Stetson, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/international\">http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/international<\/a>.
