The idea for \u201cMaturity in the Masterpiece\u201d was born.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Shea worked with the nursing home and recruited nine fellow students to volunteer to help nursing home residents create original paintings. On Oct. 4, the first group of volunteer Stetson Law students met with nursing home residents. They spent the afternoon creating works of art that will be previewed during an art show and then displayed at the nursing home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0was really proud of\u00a0my fellow\u00a0students,\u201d said O\u2019Shea. \u201cThey\u00a0were extremely patient and caring,\u00a0qualities you hope law students will have as they become role models for their community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Shea said that she hopes the entire Stetson community will participate in the \u201cMaturity in the Masterpiece\u201d program, tentatively scheduled for the first Friday of each month from 2- 4 p.m. at the Boca Ciega Center in Gulfport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only is it great for the residents, it is also a good\u00a0way for Stetson Law\u00a0students and faculty and staff to break away\u00a0from the books and add some variety to their lives,\u201d said O\u2019Shea.<\/p>\n<p>The next \u201cMaturity in the Masterpiece&#8221; will take place between 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Boca Ciega Center in Gulfport, 1414 59th St. S. All Stetson faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to volunteer.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13776\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13776\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_4415_TN.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-13776\" alt=\"Stetson students volunteered to help assisted living facility residents create original works of art.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_4415_TN-300x208.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13776\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stetson students volunteered to help assisted living facility residents create original works of art.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFor many residents, Boca Ciega is their only home,\u201d said Heino.\u00a0\u201cBy giving residents the opportunity to display their artwork throughout Boca Ciega, I believe this program will bring the residents a new sense of happiness and pride and create many lasting memories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Boca Ciega Center is a nonprofit nursing home and rehabilitative center.
