{"id":14265,"date":"2014-01-10T09:34:44","date_gmt":"2014-01-10T14:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/?p=14265"},"modified":"2014-01-10T09:34:44","modified_gmt":"2014-01-10T14:34:44","slug":"stetson-law-ranks-among-top-20-law-schools-for-hispanic-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/index.php\/2014\/01\/10\/stetson-law-ranks-among-top-20-law-schools-for-hispanic-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Stetson Law ranks among top 20 law schools for Hispanic students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\">Stetson University College of Law<\/a> again ranks among the top 20 law schools in the nation for Hispanic students, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanicoutlook.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson Law ranks 20th among the\u00a0top 25 law schools across the country conferring the most degrees on Hispanics. <i>Hispanic Outlook <\/i>compiled the ranking using the <a href=\"http:\/\/grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com\/best-graduate-schools\/top-law-schools\/law-school-diversity-rankings\/page+4\" target=\"_blank\"><i>U.S. News and World Report <\/i>diversity index<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson law school\u2019s Hispanic students have established a strong tradition of community and public service.\u00a0Students in Stetson Law\u2019s Hispanic Bar Association participate in a variety of volunteer activities and legal workshops for the Hispanic community. Spanish-speaking HBA members help break down language barriers, serving as translators to pro bono clients at local legal aid organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Supreme Court honored Stetson&#8217;s HBA chapter in 2006 for its pro bono work with the Chief Justice&#8217;s Voluntary Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson\u2019s Hispanic Bar Association has been honored by the American Bar Association for its work with the Hispanic National Bar Association\u2019s minority youth outreach and mentoring programs. Stetson&#8217;s HBA, along with the Tampa Bay Hispanic Bar Association, helped launch the HNBF\/HNBA Mentorship Program in the Tampa Bay, Fla., region. Stetson\u2019s HBA also regularly attends the annual Minority Mentoring Picnic, which provides law students from across the state with an opportunity to learn about the practice of law from distinguished lawyers and judges.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson Law\u2019s 2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/about\/home\/profile.php\" target=\"_blank\">J.D. entering class included 20% minority students<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1900 as Florida&#8217;s first law school, Stetson University College of Law has educated outstanding lawyers, judges and other leaders for 114 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stetson University College of Law again ranks among the top 20 law schools in the nation for Hispanic students, according to the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine.
