Fontugne won the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.med.fsu.edu\/?fuseaction=news.viewArticle&amp;usemenu=innovativeCollaboration&amp;newsID=493\">Mollie and Paul Hill Student Writing Competition in Medical-Legal Interprofessional Collaboration, hosted by Florida State University<\/a>. She took second place in the <a href=\"http:\/\/aclm.org\/dirAbout\/Competition\/2014-ACLM-Student-Writing-Competition-in-Law,-Medi.aspx\">American College of Legal Medicine Student Writing Competition in Law, Medicine and Bioethics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14571\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14571\" style=\"width: 232px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fontugne_tight_bb_lightened.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14571\" alt=\"Elisabeth Fontugne\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fontugne_tight_bb_lightened-232x300.jpg\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14571\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Elisabeth Fontugne<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fontugne\u2019s writing addresses the intersection of law and medicine. She is a third-year student in Stetson law school\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/admissions\/jd\/part-time-program.php\">part-time program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Mollie and Paul Hill Student Writing Competition recognizes outstanding original papers submitted by a law student and a medical student or medical resident in response to a question regarding the collaboration between the medical and legal professions.<\/p>\n<p>Fontugne received second-place in the American College of Legal Medicine competition for her paper, \u201cTo Treat or Not to Treat: End of Life Care, Patient Autonomy, and the Responsible Practice of Medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fontugne is a graduate of the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, where she obtained a degree in nautical science. She also received a master\u2019s in library science from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson\u2019s legal writing program has consistently <a href=\"http:\/\/grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com\/best-graduate-schools\/top-law-schools\/legal-writing-rankings\">ranked among the top five programs nationwide in U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/a>. Stetson Law is home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/index.php\/2013\/09\/11\/stetson-law-launches-new-institute-for-the-advancement-of-legal-communication\/\">Institute for Advancement of Legal Communication, launched in the fall of 2013<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stetson University College of Law student Elisabeth Fontugne was recently honored with two awards for excellence in writing.
