{"id":174,"date":"2005-03-07T15:25:56","date_gmt":"2005-03-07T20:25:56","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2012-03-01T11:09:41","modified_gmt":"2012-03-01T16:09:41","slug":"stetson-university-college-of-law-announces-new-associate-vice-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/index.php\/2005\/03\/07\/stetson-university-college-of-law-announces-new-associate-vice-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Stetson University College of Law announces new associate vice president"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Contact Frank Klim<br \/>\nExecutive Director of Communications<br \/>\n727-562-7889<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gulfport, Fla.<\/strong> &#8211; Stetson University College of Law recently appointed Deborah Brown as associate vice president for legal affairs and human resources.<\/p>\n<p>Her duties will include coordinating legal issues involving the College of Law, legal compliance and prevention planning, and human resource and employee relations matters, such as staff cultivation, benefits and policy development.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many members of the Stetson community have worked with Ms. Brown as a student, alumna and attorney, and I cannot think of a better person for this position,&#8221; said Dean Darby Dickerson.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, Brown was selected as one of &#8220;Florida&#8217;s Legal Elite&#8221; by Florida Trend magazine. A 1987 graduate of Stetson Law, she received the College&#8217;s Outstanding Alumna Award in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>She is board-certified in labor and employment law, and holds certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Among her other accomplishments in her 17 years in labor and employment law, she was a shareholder at Thompson, Sizemore &amp; Gonzalez P.A. and director of employee relations for Walt Disney World Co., one of the largest single-site employers in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>An active member of several legal organizations, Brown serves on The Florida Bar Judicial Administration and Evaluation Committee and is on the board of directors for the Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind. Brown has chaired various bar committees, including the Labor and Employment Law Committee of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar, and The Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee.
