Moody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On a Friday evening\u00a0in August, the Stetson Law community gathered in the Dolly &amp; Homer Hand Law Library to celebrate the legacy of Dean Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor Lizabeth A. Moody. On Aug. 28, Stetson Law dedicated the\u00a0Dean Lizabeth A. Moody Seminar Room in the library that Moody helped build. The seminar room was frequently used by Dean Moody for her nonprofit corporations class at Stetson. Moody was one of the first to pioneer teaching law students in small seminar groups, a popular method used in law schools today.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18141\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18141\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Dean-Moody-Reception-029_BEST.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18141\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Dean-Moody-Reception-029_BEST-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law Lizabeth A. Moody spoke at the dedication of the Dean Lizabeth A. Moody Seminar Room. (L-R): Dean Moody and Dean Christopher Pietruszkiewicz.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis dynamic legal educator, with her driving determination,\u00a0made this very library possible,\u201d said Dean and Professor of Law Christopher Pietruszkiewicz.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen years ago during her five-year tenure as dean at Stetson Law, Moody raised the money to build Stetson a beautiful new law library, on par with the quality of a legal education from Stetson. She ensured that the blueprint for Stetson\u2019s new law library would include at least 20 private and group study rooms for students.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a personal friend of Moody, delivered the dedication address at Stetson Law\u2019s\u00a0library in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our library is one of the five best law school libraries in the country,\u201d Dean Moody remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Moody, inducted into Stetson\u2019s Hall of Fame in 2009, also helped create\u00a0Stetson\u2019s part-time law program and\u00a0international programs.<\/p>\n<p>In January of 2013, the\u00a0<em>National Jurist Magazine <\/em>named Dean Moody one of the top 25 most influential people in legal education. The\u00a0American Bar Association Women Trailblazers in the Law Project selected Moody in 2012 to be included among women who made history in the legal profession.<\/p>\n<p>Before arriving at Stetson, Moody helped advance\u00a0equality for women in the legal profession. Moody was one of only seven female graduates in her Yale Law class of 160 students. A\u00a0partner in a prominent Cleveland law firm, Moody was the first female president of the Cleveland Bar Association and one of the first women to receive an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell.\u00a0The city of Cleveland named the day of May 8, 1990, in honor of Lizabeth A. Moody.<\/p>\n<p>She was dean of two law schools, teaching at several law schools across the country. Moody was also a leader\u00a0in state, local and national bar associations who received\u00a0honors including\u00a0the Ohio State Bar Medal, Josephine Irwin Award, American Bar Association Glass Cutter Award and ABA Author\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the\u00a0Cleveland State University faculty, Moody served\u00a0as interim dean.\u00a0As president and CEO of Law School Admissions Services, Moody founded the Access Loan Program.<\/p>\n<p>Moody\u2019s oral history of her extraordinary legal career is\u00a0housed at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/index.html\">Library of Congress<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.radcliffe.harvard.edu\/schlesinger-library\">Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America\u00a0at Harvard University<\/a>, and on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.americanbar.org\/divisions\/srlawyers\/womentrailblazers\/trailblazer.aspx?TB=Moody\">ABA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On a Friday evening\u00a0in August, the Stetson Law community gathered in the Dolly &amp; Homer Hand Law Library to celebrate the legacy of Dean Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor Lizabeth A.
