Photo by Karun Rivero.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dunlap is the author of the article, \u201cWhat to Expect when Employees Are Expecting\u2014Managing Pregnant Health Care Workers,\u201d written for the American Health Lawyers Association, and \u201cSupreme Court \u2018Delivers\u2019 New Life to Pregnancy Discrimination Claims in <em>Young v. United Parcel Service<\/em>,\u201d published in the <em>Florida Bar Journal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 18, LELA will host an event featuring Cheryl Schroeder, executive director for West Central Florida Federation of Labor. Schroeder will present on \u201cLabor Law Issues: The Workers\u2019 Perspectives.\u201d She will talk about the role of the American Federation of Labor; the National Labor Relations Act\u00a0as the source of workers\u2019 rights; protections for unionized vs. non-unionized employees; organizing; current issues in labor law, such as organizing via social media and the \u201cFight for $15\u201d movement; and attorney jobs in the field of labor law.<\/p>\n<p>On March 24, LELA will welcome guest speaker Jim Mallue of the\u00a0Council for the Florida Commission on Human Relations. Mallue will present on \u201cThe Florida Commission on Human Relations\u2019 Take on Employment Discrimination in Florida.\u201d He will discuss protections afforded to employees under the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992, administrative pre-requisites to filing a discrimination lawsuit, and the day-to-day functions of the Commission in deciding Floridians\u2019 claims of unlawful discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>Students interested in becoming members should follow LELA on Facebook (\u201cStetson Labor and Employment Law Association\u201d).
