He pointed to a photograph of Babe Ruth from 1938, who came to visit Florida Military Academy.<\/p>\n<p>The FMA was located at the Stetson law school campus from 1932-1952. Before FMA took over the property, it was home to the Rolyat Hotel, a sweeping, elegant Mediterranean compound that hosted celebrity guests like Babe Ruth.\u00a0According to a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sptimes.com\/2003\/05\/14\/Neighborhoodtimes\/Nostalgia_still_draws.shtml\"><em>St. Petersburg Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0article, FMA alumni include the sons of Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, Hugo and Sterling Black; son of playwright Eugene O&#8217;Neill, Shane O\u2019Neill; and All-Star third baseman Al Rosen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember running laps around the bullring,\u201d Baudoin said, pointing to the tiled round fountain in the Plaza Mayor courtyard.<\/p>\n<p>The Great Hall, today used to host large lectures, dinners and special events at Stetson law school, was once the mess hall where cadets dined during the FMA years. It was Baudoin\u2019s job to make sure anyone who broke an expensive plate in the mess hall had to pay for it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22484\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22484\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_5935.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/IMG_5935-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Stetson staff member Jeff Altieri, Florida Military Academy alumnus Oliver Boudoin and family friend Sonia Bourgeois visit the FMA archives at Stetson Law.\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22484\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stetson staff member Jeff Palmieri, Florida Military Academy alumnus Oliver Baudoin and family friend Sonia Bourgeois visit the FMA archives at Stetson Law.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A 1946 FMA graduate, Lawrence Barrett, created an exhibit of memorabilia in the Great Hall on the Stetson law school campus, which included photographs, newspaper clippings and uniforms, and a chapel bench.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s Florida Military Academy Collection is a museum-quality exhibit of donations on the third floor and a special archive room housed in the Dolly\u00a0&amp; Homer Hand Law Library.
