Turner v. U.S.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22696\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22696\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3626.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22696\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3626-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"(L-R): Brandon Breslow and Stetson Law Dean Christopher Pietruszkiewicz at the May 2016 Honors and Awards ceremony at Stetson.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22696\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(L-R): Brandon Breslow and Stetson Law Dean Christopher Pietruszkiewicz at the May 2016 Honors and Awards ceremony at Stetson.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Breslow began working on the pivotal article, &#8220;Signs of Life in the Supreme Court\u2019s Uncharted Territory:\u00a0Why the Right to Effective Assistance of Counsel Should Attach to Pre-Indictment Plea Bargaining,&#8221;\u00a0while he was still a student in Professor of Law Ellen S. Podgor&#8217;s class in the Honors Program at Stetson law school.<\/p>\n<p>As a law student, Breslow was\u00a0a member of Stetson&#8217;s Trial Team, interned\u00a0with the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office, and worked as a law clerk at Kynes, Markman &amp; Felman, P.A.<\/p>\n<p>His\u00a0work as a student was focused on criminal justice and looking beyond what the law is to suggest what the law should be.<\/p>\n<p>As a law clerk, Breslow researched Sixth Amendment ineffective assistance of counsel claims at the plea bargaining stage and the\u00a0Supreme Court\u2019s Bright-Line Rule. His research led him to develop the underlying theme of his paper.<\/p>\n<p>Since graduating and passing the Florida Bar last September, Breslow works with mentors Katherine Earle Yanes J.D. &#8217;97 and James Felman\u00a0as an associate attorney for Kynes, Markman &amp; Felman, P.A. in Tampa, focused on trial, appellate, and post-conviction proceedings in federal and state courts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They both encourage me not only to become a better attorney for the benefit of our clients, but also for the benefit of the community and the legal profession,&#8221; Breslow said of his mentors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brandon Breslow J.D. &#8217;16, recently\u00a0published an article in\u00a0The Federal Lawyer, the official publication of the Federal Bar Association,\u00a0that was\u00a0cited by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit\u00a0in the case of John R.
