Stetson University College of Law hosts the Educating Advocates Teaching Advocacy Skills Conference on the Gulfport, Florida, campus on May 22-25.<\/p>\n

The annual Educating Advocates conference invites professors, lawyers and legal practitioners from across the U.S. to spend two and one-half intensive days learning the Stetson method of advocacy, developing their teaching skills, and networking with renowned advocacy instructors.<\/p>\n

The theme of this year\u2019s conference is \u201cWe Are What We Teach: Modeling Appropriate Behaviors Across Teaching Modalities,\u201d and includes an optional, full-day Teacher Advocacy Training session on May 25.<\/p>\n

Stetson will present the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching Advocacy to Syracuse University Professor of Law Emeritus Travis H.D. Lewin, longtime trial competition advisor and coach.<\/p>\n

The inaugural Cornerstone Award, which recognizes exceptional members of the advocacy teaching community, will be presented in memoriam this fall to Lawrence Sutter\u2019s surviving family at a ceremony in Ohio.<\/p>\n

The Edward D. Ohlbaum Professionalism Award\u00a0will be presented at the regional EATS conference in December of 2017 at Drexel University.<\/p>\n
