Stetson University Visiting Assistant Professor of Law Carla Reyes has recently been named a faculty associate at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.<\/p>\n

The Center addresses issues at the intersection of technology and society with a focus on the design and use of digital technologies for the social good.<\/p>\n

In December, Professor Reyes spoke in Mexico and in Africa on using cutting-edge technologies like Bitcoin to promote economic, social and cultural rights and to reshape the law.\u00a0She presented at the United Nations Internet Governance Forum in Mexico on Dec. 8 and at the Kenya Blockchain Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, Dec. 15-16.<\/p>\n

At Stetson, Professor Reyes is teaching\u00a0Business Entities in the fall, and Secured Transactions and Non-Litigation Drafting: Technology Transactions Skills in the spring.<\/p>\n

“The skills course will use a bitcoin company hypothetical and introduce students to the issues presented and skills required of attorneys working with technology start-ups,” Professor Reyes explained.<\/p>\n

She presented her article, “Conceptualizing Cryptolaw,” forthcoming\u00a0in the Nebraska Law Review,\u00a0at Arizona State University’s Governance of Emerging Technology Conference in May, and presented on blockchain technology and business organization law at the University of Utah’s National Business Law Scholars Conference in June.\u00a0 Professor Reyes travels to Bermuda at the end of this month for a joint COALA-MIT blockchain conference.<\/p>\n
