Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are\nhonored to be recognized by the American Bar Association and presented with the\nE. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award,\u201d said Joann Grages Burnett, Esq., Campus to Career co-chair and associate director of\ncareer and professional development. \u201cReceiving this award is a tremendous\nhonor and we are thrilled to be included among so many other wonderful\nprograms.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/grages.jpg\" alt=\"Joann Grages Burnett.\" class=\"wp-image-26258\"\/><figcaption>Joann Grages Burnett, Esq.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt Stetson\nLaw, we are committed to preparing students for professional success, no matter\nwhich path they choose and are delighted that the work of our planning\ncommittee is valued,\u201d said Burnett. \u201cWe are proud of what we do and are excited\nabout continuing to grow and expand \u201cCampus and Career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nprestigious distinction is renowned in the law community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe E.\nSmythe Gambrell Professionalism Award is a longstanding and well-regarded\naward,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/faculty\/davis-kirsten-k\/\">Kirsten K. Davis,\nPh.D.<\/a>, Campus to Career\nfaculty co-chair and interim assistant dean for student affairs. \u201cStetson Law has\nbeen a leader in legal professionalism education and receiving the award is\ngreat feedback that we are providing professional development opportunities\nthat are meaningful to our partners at the bar and on the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"159\" height=\"159\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/davis.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18977\"\/><figcaption>Kirsten K. Davis, Ph.D.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The one-day\nconference, now in its third year, is planned and organized by a standing\ncommittee of staff, faculty and students. The team, which includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/career\/index.php\">Office of Career and\nProfessional Development<\/a>,\nplans and operates the conference annually, and works across campus disciplines\nto include ideas and expertise from everyone, including Stetson Law alumni and\nmembers of the law community at large.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nconference is geared towards the professional development of first-year law\nstudents, but is open to all students and prepares participants for success by\nintroducing and strengthening their knowledge and skills through programs\nfocused on key professional development and professional identity competencies,\nwhich included resilience, time management, professionalism, decision-making,\nplanning, civility, self-assessment, mentoring and wellness this past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last February, the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/academics\/success\/professional-development-conference-rfp.php\">Professional Development Conference: Campus to Career<\/a>\u201d was held at Stetson Law\u2019s Gulfport campus and included keynote speakers who provided insight about their student-to-professional journey, breakout sessions that offered guidance on a variety of topics, including self-advocacy, teamwork, financial and time management and mentoring and a networking reception. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The $3,500\naward, which was established in 1991, is named after E. Smythe Gambrell who was\na former American Bar Association (ABA) and American Bar Foundation president\nduring the 1950s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The award is\nadministered by the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on\nProfessionalism and supported by the E. Smythe Gambrell Fund for\nProfessionalism. The award recognizes the nation\u2019s exemplary, innovative and\nongoing professionalism programs in law schools, bar associations, courts and\nother legal organizations that ensure integrity and dedication to the legal\nprofession and public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The accolade\nwill make a difference during next year\u2019s professional development conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe award\nfunds will directly support the \u201cProfessional Development Conference: Campus to\nCareer\u201d in 2020 and other professional development innovations,\u201d said Burnett.\n\u201cThe committee is already in planning mode and this award will help ensure 2020\nis the best year yet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>\nThe E.
