The two organizations\nhave created the Alliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy, which will align the\npower of advocacy with the heart of philanthropy. This new alliance reflects both\norganizations\u2019 longstanding commitment to addressing important issues for an\neven more vibrant community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nAlliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy is a collaborative partnership, which\nmakes a strong case for creating positive change through the lens of activism\nand the spirit of giving.&nbsp; The Alliance is a unique initiative to engage\nthe community and spark deep discussion through: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Connection, by\nbuilding partnerships&nbsp;and&nbsp;leveraging\nresources&nbsp;to&nbsp;enhance&nbsp;the common good;<\/li><li>Education, by\ndeveloping&nbsp;self-advocacy and institutional&nbsp;capacity through access to\nexperts&nbsp;and educational opportunities; and <\/li><li>Collaboration,\nby providing pathways for members of the community as well as students to\nbecome actively involved.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis\npartnership is an incredible opportunity for our students and our community,\u201d\nsaid Mich\u00e8le Alexandre, dean of Stetson University College of Law. \u201cWorking\ntogether, we can empower the next generation of nonprofit and Tampa Bay leaders\nto become effective\ncommunity advocates,\nwhich will have a positive impact on our region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fellowships and office space part of the deal<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the collaboration, the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay will offer two paid fellowships each semester for students attending Stetson University College of Law. The two fellowships will begin in spring 2020, and students will gain an in-depth understanding of community philanthropy and have hands-on experience in working with nonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\naddition, Stetson University College of Law is providing office space at its\nGulfport campus for the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. Stetson also will provide\nmeeting and conference space to the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay at its Gulfport\nand downtown Tampa campuses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\ngeneral public, local nonprofits, and corporations will have opportunities to\ntake part in conversations sparked by the Alliance for Advocacy and\nPhilanthropy during events held at Stetson University College of Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marlene\nSpalten, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, said, \u201cWe look\nforward to working with Florida\u2019s first law school to create opportunities for our\nregion, to discuss communitywide challenges and possible solutions, and to promote\nthe economic health and vitality of Tampa Bay through an innovative program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe look forward to working with Florida\u2019s first law school to create opportunities for our region, to discuss community wide challenges and possible solutions, and to promote the economic health and vitality of Tampa Bay through an innovative program.\u201d<\/p><cite>Marlene Spalten, president and CEO of CFTB<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the organizations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alliance for\nAdvocacy and Philanthropy formalizes the organizations\u2019 shared belief in\naligning resources and investing in advocacy, thought leadership, and programs\nto solve community challenges. The partnership will include pro bono program opportunities\nfor students to support Tampa Bay area not-for-profits.&nbsp; Faculty and students at Stetson University\nCollege of Law provide more than 30,000 hours of pro bono legal and advocacy\nservices through various institutes, programs and centers, including the Veterans\nLaw Institute, Center for Excellence in Advocacy,\nthe Social Justice Advocacy Program the Center for Excellence in Elder Law,\netc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Community Foundation\nof Tampa Bay awards about $20 million each year to nonprofit organizations.\nSince its inception nearly 30 years ago, the Community Foundation has granted\nmore than $230 million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and Stetson University College of Law have formed a new partnership to benefit the Tampa Bay area.
