Photo by Mark Wemple.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Stetson University College of Law team won the\nChester Bedell Mock Trial Competition in January of this year, making it the\n23rd time in 37 years a Stetson team claimed the award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a fitting continuation of the legacy, given that a\nStetson team won the inaugural Chester Bedell competition in 1983. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To celebrate the trophy\u2019s return to campus, Stetson\ninvited winning team members and coaches from the last four decades back for a\nChester Champs Reunion on Sept. 14. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe want to remind the world of our continued\ndominance in the advocacy world\u2014a dominance that started in 1983 and has\ncontinued without any signs of stopping,\u201d said Professor Roberta Flowers, interim\ndirector of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar conducts\nthe prestigious competition for mock trial teams from across the state\nannually, and distinguished members of the judiciary preside over the final\nround.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s winning team comprised Elise Engle, LaMark\nMcGreen, Grace Samarkos and Megan Tiralosi. A second Stetson team made it to\nthe semi-final round. That group included JD Arnett, Olivia Bergert, Blake\nFromang and Justine Roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Samarkos is the daughter of Charles Samarkos J.D. \u201989,\nwho won the Chester Bedell competition when he was a student at Stetson.\nFromang is the son of Stetson Law alumna Jennifer Eden J.D. \u201990, who won\nChester Bedell several times when she was a student. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stetson Law 2016 alumni Brandon and Lara Breslow\nco-coached this year\u2019s team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stetson\u2019s program in trial advocacy is nationally\nranked no. 1 by U.S. News &amp; World Report.
