Kaplin Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy\nat Stetson University established the award in honor of Professor William A. Kaplin\nto recognize scholars who have published works on education law that embrace\nthe intersection of law and policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ware is the Louis L. Redding Chair and Professor of Law\n&amp; Public Policy at the University of Delaware where he also teaches\nAfricana Studies. He has a bachelor\u2019s degree in history from Fisk University\nand a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ware\u2019s research focuses on civil rights and civil liberties\nlaw, employment law and constitutional law. His book, A Century of Segregation:\nRace, Class, and Disadvantage, (Lexington Books 1998), explains how race and\nclass intersect in ways that uniquely disadvantage African Americans and other\nracial minorities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has authored more than 100 articles in academic journals\nand other publications on various aspects of civil rights law and co-authored\ntwo books, &#8220;Brown v. Board of Education: Caste, Culture and the\nConstitution&#8221; and &#8220;Choosing Equality: Essays and Narratives on the\nDesegregation Experience.&#8221; Prior to his work in academia, Ware was a trial\nattorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The award ceremony will take place as part of the 41<sup>st<\/sup>\nAnnual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/conferences\/highered\/home\/index.php\">National\nConference on Law and Higher Education<\/a>, Jan. 29-Feb.3, 2020, in Clearwater\nBeach, Florida. The conference, now in its 41st year, is designed to provide\nattendees with the vision, motivation, and intensely practical tools needed to\nreturn to campus to meet the dynamic law and policy challenges in higher\neducation.
