Vis International Arbitration team won the Florida Bar International Law Section\u2019s Richard DeWitt Memorial Vis Pre-Moot competition on Feb. 27, 2021. It marked the 13<sup>th<\/sup> win for Stetson in the 17 years of the pre-moot\u2019s existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team, composed of Robert Cummings, Audrey Gangloff, Melany Hernandez, Joseph Kim, Brook Somerville, and Andrew Zacherl, competed virtually in four rounds, and was named the winner in a field of 20 teams. Despite the name, this year\u2019s competition, hosted by the Miami Office of the JAMS Center for ADR Services, featured teams from 13 countries, including Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Mozambique, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the judges even wrote of Stetson\u2019s students, stating \u201cYou guys were the best team I saw!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/faculty\/home\/joseph-morrissey.php\">Joseph Mor<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/faculty\/home\/joseph-morrissey.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">r<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/faculty\/home\/joseph-morrissey.php\">issey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/law\/faculty\/home\/stephanie-vaughan.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephanie Vaughan<\/a> and alumnus Matthew Ceriale coached the team, which will compete in the <a href=\"https:\/\/vismoot.pace.edu\/\">Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/vismoot.pace.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/vismoot.pace.edu\/\">Moot<\/a> competition in late March. The event is traditionally held in Vienna and Hong Kong but will be virtual this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students argue an international commercial law dispute in front of many of the best practitioners of international private law in the world.
