Although there has been significant U.S. government investment in the region\u2019s justice systems, corruption is still its Achilles\u2019 heel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2016 and 2017 alone, the U.S. sent more than $104.56 million to Honduras in aid earmarked for justice-system and police reform, according to the latest available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wola.org\/monitoring-assistance-central-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data<\/a>&nbsp;from the Central America Monitor by the Washington Office on Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome feel that [legal] aid has been wasted.
