Gulfport, Fla. <\/strong>– Judge Thomas E. Stringer Sr., the first African-American to graduate from Stetson University College of Law, will be honored for his contributions to minority students during a celebration bearing his name, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Stetson’s Great Hall.<\/p>\n

The Black Law Students Association at Stetson University College of Law will celebrate the Fourth Annual Judge Thomas Stringer Youth Day with a luncheon and awards ceremony. The annual event allows minority students the opportunity to meet Judge Stringer and watch a mock trial by Stetson trial team students. Minority legal professionals are encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n

After graduating in 1974, Stringer served in private practice and on the Hillsborough County Court. Gov. Jeb Bush appointed Judge Stringer to Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal in 1999.<\/p>\n

BLSA works to link law students with practitioners and to improve community relations with minorities. BLSA works to promote the professional needs and goals of Black law students, both through linking law students with practitioners and raising awareness of issues affecting the community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
