The 1989 Stetson Law alumnus \u2013 who is also a Double Hatter \u2013 was honored during the college\u2019s December 3, 2022 induction ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The South Florida native has spent the vast majority of his career at Palm Beach County-based firm Critton, Luttier, &amp; Coleman, LLP. His areas of practice include complex commercial litigation, complex trust and estate litigation, personal injury, and wrongful death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key to his success as a lawyer is his no-nonsense approach to dealing with conflict \u2013 as he calls it, \u201cgetting to the meat of the coconut.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\"  id=\"_ytid_19639\"  width=\"480\" height=\"270\"  data-origwidth=\"480\" data-origheight=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/57bfWzLRoZQ?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=0&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;disablekb=0&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This quality also helps him in his current role of Chair of the Stetson University College of Law Board of Overseers \u2013 as does his collaborative spirit and loyal nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGreg is one of those people that you can count on to answer your call and help you out, even if you haven\u2019t spoken in years and even when there is nothing for him to gain,\u201d said Chris Killer, Coleman\u2019s roommate while the two studied at Stetson Law. \u201cThere just aren\u2019t many people like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Bar chief to Board chair<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though a passionate outdoorsman \u2013 especially fishing in the waters off the Atlantic \u2013 Coleman\u2019s professional activity goes well beyond the bounds of business hours, especially when it comes to bar association activity.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/HOF-Inductee_Coleman_news.jpg\" alt=\"A headshot of alumnus and Stetson Law Board of Overseers Chair Greg Coleman\" class=\"wp-image-31803\" width=\"429\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/HOF-Inductee_Coleman_news.jpg 590w, https:\/\/www2.stetson.edu\/law\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/HOF-Inductee_Coleman_news-500x331.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 429px) 100vw, 429px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Alumnus Gregory Coleman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He began as an executive board member of the Palm Beach County Bar\u2019s Young Lawyers Division and held various leadership roles in local and state bar associations. In 2014, he ran unopposed for President of the Florida Bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is now vice-chair of the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission \u2013 and the only lawyer to have served in that role in Florida. Along with his good friend, Florida Supreme Court Justice Jorge Labarga, Coleman formed a Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though busy, Coleman still made time for his alma mater. He joined the Stetson Law Board of Overseers in 2010, which he now chairs for a second term. He joined the Stetson University Board of Trustees in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Awards &amp; accolades<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has won the Florida Bar President\u2019s Award of Merit three times \u2013 the only lawyer to do so in bar history. He won the Legal Aid Society\u2019s <em>and Justice for All <\/em>Award in 2016.
