Stetson University College of Law presents “Educating Advocates” March 5-6 on the Gulfport campus at 1401 61st St. S. Stetson’s second conference on the art, science and skill of advocacy instruction is designed for full-time professors, adjuncts and attorneys interested in teaching advocacy skills.<\/p>\n

Conference presentations by leading advocacy instructors from around the world will include examining comparative methods for teaching advocacy skills, designing an effective advocacy skills curriculum, creating models for legal ethics for advocacy competition teams, and evaluating students.<\/p>\n

“This program benefits anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in the field of teaching the art of persuasion,” said Professor Charles H. Rose III, who directs Stetson’s Center for Excellence in Advocacy. “This conference provides a hands-on approach to learning and teaching practical legal skills for both the courtroom and the classroom. We will discuss many of the problematic issues facing advocacy professors in the academy.” <\/p>\n

The conference begins with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Advocacy to both Professor Thomas A. Mauet and Judge Warren D. Wolfson. Mauet directs the trial advocacy program at the <\/a>University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. Wolfson is an appellate judge for the Illinois Appellate Court as well as director of trial advocacy at the Chicago-Kent College of Law.<\/p>\n
