This year, the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce honored Mill with the\u00a0\u201c2011 Business Woman of the Year\u201d award. \u00a0She spoke to Stetson students about the positive effects communication can have on individuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusiness and life are about people and how you communicate with them,\u201d Mill told the crowd.\u00a0 Although Mill said she has a passion for journalism, she said she is also inspired to consider law school in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Stetson student Danielle Weaver-Rogers said she was inspired by Mill\u2019s message.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe talked about being a leader in the community, but still being a part of the community,\u201d said Weaver-Rogers. \u201cI think she shared a wonderful message: how being a leader or being in a position of authority still allows you to be personable by using effective communication.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6513\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6513\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Mill-addresses-crowd_TN.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6513\" title=\"Bridgette Mill addressed Stetson Law students at the the Student Leadership Development Committee luncheon. \" src=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Mill-addresses-crowd_TN-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Bridgette Mill addressed Stetson Law students at the the Student Leadership Development Committee luncheon. \" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6513\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bridgette Mill addressed Stetson Law students at the the Student Leadership Development Committee luncheon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Students attending the luncheon received one credit toward Stetson\u2019s Leadership Certificate, which is presented at graduation. The Student Leadership Development Committee is comprised of student leaders who plan and implement monthly leadership luncheons and an annual leadership retreat for students. This month\u2019s topic was communication and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The next Leadership luncheon will take place in November. The Student Leadership Development Committee will also be bringing back its monthly essay contests.
