Barzilay and Bonnie Foreman, the biodiversity lecture series&#8217; namesake.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Judge Barzilay spoke to students, faculty and staff at Stetson about the role of the court in environmental protection.<\/p>\n<p>She discussed her 20-year career practicing in both the public and private sectors of international trade, as well as key cases including the Shrimp\/Turtle and Tuna\/Dolphin.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture was co-sponsored by the Institute for Biodiversity Law and Policy, the Environmental Law Society and the Maritime Law Society at Stetson.<\/p>\n<p>Previous lectures in this series included a discussion about the struggle to protect the coastal environment with the director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/rookerybay.org\/\">Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/index.php\/2012\/02\/10\/biodiversity-lecturer-discusses-protecting-coastal-environment\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gary Lytton<\/a>, and a presentation about whether there is a need for a legal response to hydrofracking and natural gas development led by geologist <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/news\/index.php\/2012\/02\/17\/students-learn-about-natural-gas-development-and-hydrofracking-at-biodiversity-lecture\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mauricio Roma and Watershed Inspector General Philip Bein.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To learn more, visit the<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.law.stetson.edu\/biodiversity\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Institute for Biodiversity Law and Policy at Stetson<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Court of International Trade Senior Judge Judith M.
