Stetson University College of Law won the regional round of the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition<\/a>on March 4 in Ft. Lauderdale.<\/p>\n

(L-R): Claudette Goyanes, Brandon Blake, Julian Catala and Erica Emas won the regional round of the AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Stetson students Brandon Blake, Julian Catala, Erica Emas and Claudette Goyanes will travel to Las Vegas for the national competition <\/strong>on <\/strong>March 22\u201325. Professor Roberta Flowers is the team coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cWinning this competition and others reaffirms Stetson\u2019s excellence in advocacy,\u201d said Trial Advocacy Fellow Lee Coppock. \u201cWe are especially pleased to have won this regional event for the fourth year in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over its history, Stetson\u2019s trial team has won first place in more national-level trial competitions than any other law school in the nation. Trial competitions require students to demonstrate their trial advocacy skills in a simulated jury trial, where they are evaluated by experienced lawyers and judges and have the opportunity to perfect trial skills to a degree not possible through classroom instruction.<\/p>\n

Stetson\u2019s trial team<\/a> won the National Trial Competition in 2010<\/a> and the national AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition in 2009<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
