SPOKESMAN FOR U.P.Ts.M.P.: WE BLESS EVERYONE FOR DEFENSE OF UKRAINE
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is blessing Ukrainians to take a stand for the defense of the motherland. This was written on his Facebook page by the spokesman for the UPTsMP, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich.
"Putin has treacherously attacked our country!
"We bless everyone for the defense of Ukraine. Let us pray and let us defend. The church is with the people.
"God, save Ukraine," the clergyman noted.
We recall that Metropolitan Onufry of the UPTsMP urged Putin to cease the fratricidal war immediately. (tr. by PDS, posted 25 February 2022)
U.P.Ts.M.P. METROPOLITAN ONUFRY URGES PUTIN TO CEASE FRATRICIDAL WAR
The primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPTsMP) Onufry appealed to the citizens of Ukraine in connection with the start of Russia's full-scale attack. He called for prayer for the Ukrainian forces, state, and people.
The text of the appeal was published by the Department of Information and Enlightenment of the UPTsMP.
"Very unfortunately, Russia has begun military actions against Ukraine, and in this fateful time I urge you not to fall into panic, to be courageous, and to display love for your fatherland and for one another. I urge you, in the first place, to fervent, repentant prayer for Ukraine, for our troops, and for our people. I ask you to forget mutual quarrels and misunderstandings and to be united by love for God and our fatherland.
"In this tragic time, let us express special love and support for our troops who are standing on guard and protecting and defending our land and our people. May God bless and preserve them.
"Defending the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine, we appeal to the president of Russia and ask him immediately to cease the fratricidal war. The Ukrainian and Russian peoples came out of the Dniepr baptismal font and war between these peoples is a repeat of the sin of Cain, who out of envy killed his natural brother. Such a war has no justification either with God or with people."
We recall that earlier the UPTsMP declared that war between Russia and Ukraine is only on television. (tr. by PDS, posted 25 February 2022)
