RISU, 24 March 2022

A religious community in the village of Krivye Kolena of the Zvenigorod district of Cherkassy oblast left the jurisdiction of the Orthodox church of the Moscow patriarchate. This was described on 23 March to Ukrinform by the rector of the local church, Father Vladimir.

"I have already submitted documents for registration in the Cherkassy diocese of the PTsU [Orthodox Church of Ukraine]. After receipt of permission we will complete the legal procedure for transfer. This was the desire of my parishioners; there was not a single vote against," Fr Vladimir said.

Hitherto there were two churches in Krivye Kolena—of the PTsU and the UPTs of the Moscow patriarchate. Now both churches will belong to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. (tr. by PDS, posted 24 March 2022)

ANOTHER U.P.Ts.M.P. PARISH JOINS P.Ts.U. IN KHMELNITSKY OBLAST

RISU, 24 March 2022

On 23 March, residents of the east of the village of Shekerintsy, by majority vote, decided to join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine [PTsU]. This was reported by the priest Vladimir Kovalchuk.

The parish of the village of Shekerintsy asked the PTsU hierarch, Bishop of Khmelnitsky and Kamenets-Podolsky Pavel, to receive them into the membership of the Khmelnitsky diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Earlier in Khmelnitsky oblast, ten parishes of the UPTsMP had transferred into the PTsU since the start of the full-scale invasion of the R.F. into Ukraine. The current parish was the eleventh.

D.F.U. reports that because of the aggression of Russia, Orthodox parishes of the villages of Alekseevka, Piliava, and Nikolaevka of the Iziaslav district of Khmelnitsky oblast made the decision to leave the UPTs of the Moscow Patriarchate and join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

"From today, the Cossack villages of the Staraia Siniava deanery, Alekseevka, Piliava, and Nikolaevka are in the local church, the UPTs (PTsU). We congratulate the Ukrainian brothers and sisters in Christ in the bosom of the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church! Today for the first time there sounded within these church buildings prayer for Ukraine and its Christ-loving host [army] in the native Ukrainian language," the PTsU priest Oleg Makarovsky reported on 22 March on Facebook.

We recall that in Khmelnitsky oblast, priests of the UPTsMP sent to their bishop a request for autocephaly. Also in the Starokonstantinov region of Khmelnitsky oblast the rector of the St. Andrew church of the city of Starokonstantinov, Father Germogen, announced his departure from the Moscow patriarchate.

On 22 March in Khmelnitsky oblast in the village of Verborodintsy yet another parish of the UPTs of the Moscow Patriarchate joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The UPTsMP priest did not want to support the parishioners and he remained in the Moscow patriarchate.

Also on 15 March, a meeting of the parish was held on the initiative of residents of the village of Dvirets of Iziaslav district of Khmelnitsky oblast for transfer into the PTsU. At this meeting the decision was adopted to transfer the parish of the church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross of the UPTsMP into the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The UPTsMP priest refused to support the parishioners.

In addition, in Khmelnitsky oblast two parishes of the UPTsMP in the villages of Vishnevoe and Brikulia left the church of the occupier at the same time, joining the PTsU. Also parishes in the villages of Vronkovtsy and Dobryn joined the PTsU. (tr. by PDS, posted 24 March 2022)
