RELIGIOUS LEADERS OF UKRAINE DECLARE GENOCIDEOF UKRAINIAN NATION COMMITTED BY RUSSIAN TROOPS IN KIEV OBLAST
A month of occupation by Russian troops of Bucha, Irpen, Gostomel, and surrounding villages led not only to widespread destruction of beautiful new residences, children's playgrounds, hospitals, and other social institutions, but also to the total destruction of the civilian population of this region. Every state in the world should acknowledge the genocide of the Ukrainian people during the Russian invasion in 2022 and condemn the ideology of the "Russian world."
This is stated in a declaration by the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, published on 6 April.
Leaders of the churches of Ukraine condemned actions of Russian soldiers in Ukraine:
"There exists evidence of violence by Russian soldiers against Ukrainian women and even children, who after gang rapes, including in front of relatives, were shot and thrown into mass graves or simply onto the street. Hundreds, and perhaps even thousands, of innocent Ukrainians were tortured and killed in several weeks of Russian occupation.
"Such a bloody trail of the Russian occupiers of the Ukrainian lands, as well as the support of their misanthropic actions by their mothers, wives, and the public at large in Russia is evidence of the complete distortion of the world view and moral degradation of Russian society. War crimes committed in Ukraine and crimes against humanity are a convincing argument for comprehensive sanctions, without any exceptions, against the Russian economy in all its sectors. They also should, finally, persuade world leaders, NATO, and the European Union to provide Ukraine all necessary armament for victory over Russia as a terrorist state, including anti-aircraft defense, fighter planes, lethal offensive weapons, tanks, and anti-ship missiles," the document says.
The religious leaders of Ukraine note that the whole world must recognize that this is not a "Ukrainian crisis," nor even a "war of Russia against Ukraine," but it is a war of humanity, of moral values, and virtue against concentrated evil of a satanic, fascist nature."
"The cult of war and chauvinism has for decades now been glorified in Russian society, which has begun to worship war. It built a temple to it in Moscow and justified new sacrifices to its bloody idol with the slogan 'We can repeat.'
"Now each state in the whole world must not remain silent! Each state in the world must recognize the genocide of the Ukrainian people during the Russian invasion in 2022 and condemn the ideology of the 'Russian world,' as a justification of the genocide of peoples and destruction of whole states," the religious leaders of Ukraine urge the whole world.
