Ex-president/premier puts religious twist on Russian invasion

RUSSIAN SECURITY COUNCIL PAYS TRIBUTE TO CHRISTIAN LEADERS WHO DO NOT AGREE WITH RUSSOPHOBIA OF "COLLECTIVE WEST"

Interfax-Religiia, 27 April 2022

The deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, accused the West of attempting to turn leaders of various branches of Christianity against Russia.

"For western countries 'defense of the freedom of religious confession' has long been a routine political instrument of pressure on modern Russia. And this is taking into account the fact that in Europe today, like in the Anglo-Saxon world also, traditional Christian values have been subjected to a catastrophic devaluation and blatant mockery. It is enough to take a look at the latest family legislation of these countries. Therefore it is Russia that, in recent years, has been viewed by many as the bulwark of the Christian world as a whole," Medvedev wrote on Wednesday on his Telegram channel.

However, with the start of the conduct of the special operation in Ukraine, he continues, "thermonuclear degenerates have crawled into the light of God."

"In an anti-Russian frenzy, the Baltic rulers are demanding sanctions against the patriarch of Moscow and all-Rus. The leaders of the uncanonical schismatics from the PTsU [Orthodox Church of Ukraine] are screaming about the Russian-bolshevik hordes that are invading Ukraine. Nazis are raiding Orthodox church buildings of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, threatening priests and parishioners with murder," Medvedev writes.

At the same time, he notes that not all, by any means, leaders of European Christianity have fallen for the nationalistic propaganda of Kiev and for the russophobia "of the collective West." For example, the Vatican diplomat and former nuncio to the U.S.A., Carlo Maria Vigano, "explicitly disclosed the role of NATO in inciting the Kiev regime against the Donbass," and also disclosed the topic of the support of neo-nazi formations in Ukraine since 2014, which is taboo in the West, Medvedev recalled.

In the same vein, he said, the leader of American Baptists, Franklin Graham, also expressed, in essence, his understanding of the reasons for the denazification of Ukraine. Judging by articles in the news media, such a point of view is also shared by many other clergy and bishops, who are still afraid of making official statements, the representative of the Security Council added.

In conclusion he writes that history will put everything in its place and show whose side truth is on.

"Who is the preserver of true Christian values, defending them from atheists, bandits, and nationalists. Who has maintained a single cultural code of communication of the peoples of Europe, based on the Christian faith. Who has stood up for people who lived for years in isolation and were subjected to violence and destruction. For this, Russia must follow its own path. It will not be easy. In life, good and truth do not always triumph quickly over evil and falsehood. But sooner or later it happens," Medvedev wrote. (tr. by PDS, posted 27 April 2022)
