Equestrian Club competes in Gainesville

Sunday, February 12th marks a monumental day in the history of the Stetson Equestrian Club. President Anjelica Johnson and officer Rachel Burger traveled to Gainseville, Fla., to compete in the IHSA Western Show hosted by the University of Florida Equestrian Club.

Other schools and universities in attendance included: College of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, Florida State University, Georgia Southern University, University of Central Florida, University of North Florida, University of South Florida, and Wesleyan College.

Neither Johnson nor Burger placed in their class which had close to 20 competitors. However, both rode very well and it was a great first IHSA show for the club. Several other club members made the trip to support their team members and gained additional knowledge in the sport and competition atmosphere. Despite the unseasonably, near freezing, temperatures that day, it was a great show and the members are already planning for the next show in the fall.
