Men’s Soccer hires Dietterle as assistant coach

Bruce Dietterle will join the Stetson men’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant for the 2012 season, as was announced by Hatters Head Coach T. Logan Fleck on Thursday afternoon.

“Bruce is a fine young coach,” Fleck said of Dietterle on Thursday. “He will bring plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the program.  We’re all looking forward to working with him in his first season on the Hatters staff.”

Dietterle comes to DeLand after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo, where he helped lead the Falcons to a 30-7-6 record during 2010 and 2011 and the program’s first Peach Belt Conference Championship.

“I’m really excited to become part of the Stetson family and work with Coach Fleck,” Dietterle said about the opportunity.  “Stetson’s academic reputation and athletic history will make this an easy place to call home.”

While at Montevallo, Deitterle was responsible for assisting in all aspects of coaching, as well as recruiting, weight program design and application, compliance, program development, academic monitoring, scheduling, and budgeting.

Dietterle coached 10 All-Conference players, five All-Region honorees, and one All-American.  The NCAA Division II program also included 10 Scholar All-Region players and a Scholar All-American.  The squad earned NSCAA Team Scholar accolades both seasons that Dietterle was on the staff.

Before coaching at Montevallo, Dietterle was an assistant coach at Division II Pfeiffer University for three seasons.  He also has experience coaching club and ODP soccer in both North Carolina and Alabama.

A four-year letter winner at Saint Anselm College during his playing days, Dietterle graduated from Saint A’s in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.  He also holds a NSCAA National Coaching Diploma.
