A busy Week Ahead

This week ahead Stetson Hatters will be busy, busy, busy. Each day is filled with another opportunity to get involved! On Wednesday, Sept. 19, Dr. Roberta Smith Favis, curator of the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection, will give a Curator’s Talk about the new art exhibit, Oscar Bluemner’s America: Walking Along a New Jersey Canal. Blooming into Thought: On Wednesday, Sept. 19, Stetson’s Dr. Roberta Favis will lead a lecture on Oscar Bluemner’s America: Walking Along a New Jersey Canal. Favis, the curator of the exhibit, is an expert on Bluemner art. She will start at 7 p.m. in duPont-Ball Library Instructional Media Center, Room 25.

Art at its Finest: The two fall art two art exhibitions – Oscar Bluemner’s America: Walking Along a New Jersey Canal and Drawings from the Collection of Arthur Goldberg – are continuing. The Bluemner show will continue through Dec. 5, while the Goldberg Collection drawings will be displayed through Oct. 19. Hand Art Center  is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. All are welcome!

Whose Letters will you Choose?  Stetson women and men, prepare yourself for an exciting week of recruitment. Sorority recruitment is Friday, Sept. 13, through Sunday, Sept. 16, and fraternity rush runs Wednesday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, Sept. 23.

Music to My Ears: On Friday, Sept. 14, the Stetson University Orchestra will be gracing the ears of all those who attend this concert. The show will feature Anthony Hose as the conductor as well as Cameron Huster on the harp. Then on Friday, Sept.  21, Stetson faculty will hold a Recital featuring Susan McQuinn on the flute and Michael Rickman on the piano. Both concert and recital begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall. Free with Stetson ID.

Hatter Pride: Come show some Hatter pride at the women’s soccer game against UAB this Friday, Sept. 14! The game starts at 4 p.m. and is located on the soccer field off of Amelia Street. More info on Athletics at www.GoHatters.com.

Chapel for everyone: Chaplain Michael Fronk welcomes everyone to Sunday afternoon’s Chapel service, 5:30-6 p.m., in Lee Chapel. Hope to see you there!

Don’t Haze Me Bro: This Monday, Sept. 17, will begin the Hazing Prevention Week. The kickoff will be a film of the Sam Spady Story. Following this video will be a discussion facilitated by Rosalie Carpenter and a Vigil for all Hazing Vicitims. This will be held in the Stetson Room from 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept. 19, there will be a “Brown Bag Lunch: Hazing Forum with Chris Kandus-Fisher” at noon in the Faculty Lounge in the CUB. This forum is an opportunity for students to hear the dean’s insight on hazing, as well as the University’s policies.

To the Market We Go: Come to the front of the CUB between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, and browse Stetson’s Market! Outside merchants will be displaying their goods and services to the Stetson community. It benefits the local merchants and gives students and staff a chance to see what else is within Deland.

Go Tell the World– Come to Global Medical Brigades Information Session. Stetson’s Global Medical Brigades mobilizes students to bring healthcare to rural areas ofPanama over spring break. If you are interested in medicine, global development work, or are trying to discover your passion come learn more at our info session at 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in Sage Science Center Room 257 on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
