Sanders Named A-Sun Player of Week
Stetson University women’s basketball senior guard Shanasa Sanders (Jacksonville, Fla./Cincinnati/Ribault HS) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Sanders averaged 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in two road games in her hometown of Jacksonville this past weekend. Against UNF on Saturday, Sanders hit five three-pointers and scored a team-high 23 points while also collecting seven rebounds. On Monday, the Hatter senior registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in Stetson’s 72-51 win over Jacksonville. She scored her 1000th career NCAA point in the contest, while adding three steals, two assists, and one block.
For the week Sanders shot 56% from the floor (14-25) and 50% from behind the arc (6-12). She played in 72 of a possible 80 minutes, and hit 7-of-9 free throw attempts.
A Business major, Sanders ranks sixth in the conference in scoring (13.0), 11th in rebounding (6.5), and ninth in assists (2.7).
It marks the first A-Sun Player of the Week honor for Sanders, although she was named the league’s Newcomer of the Week four times last season.
Stetson (16-6, 9-2 A-Sun) will return home this weekend to face ETSU at 1 p.m. Saturday.
