Voting on whether to unionize at a Volkswagon assembly plant and a meeting of government officials regarding water supply in Florida led the news for Stetson this week.   • Stetson was mentioned briefly in a Feb. 12 blog post on Reason.com regarding race consciousness in America. The article uses quotes by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during a speech to an audience at Stetson about the Tillman Act of 1907.

  • Sharon Siskie, vice president of international marketing and sales for Disney Destinations, has joined Visit Florida’s Board of Directors. Her term runs through June 2016, according to Visit Florida.
  • According to the Feb. 11 Financial News & Daily Record, Law alumnus Andrew Abramovich has been elected partner at Boyd & Jenerette.
  • Matthew Miller has been hired by Dewberry to work in its Orlando office as an environmental scientist responsible for wetland and threatened/endangered species surveying and permitting, and water resource coordination, according to the Feb. 7 Water & Wastes Digest.
  • According to the Jan. 30 Targeted News Service, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced that Law alumnus Chris Vernon, representing Collier County, was reappointed to the Edison State College District Board of Trustees.
