Associate Professor and Chair of Psychology Christopher Ferguson, Ph.D., provided commentary on whether or not media coverage on shootings provokes more shootings in the future, in an article in Yahoo! Health on July 27.

Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law Bruce Jacob spoke with the Ledger for the July 28 story, “Leak: PCSO Detective Sought Hacking Software.”

On July 28, The Florida Bar News online reported that law professor Stephanie Vaughan has been promoted to associate dean for student engagement at Stetson Law.

On July 23, Before It’s News ran an article that featured law professor Charles Rose’s video on how to lay the foundation for an expert witness.

Stetson was ranked number 8 in the top Florida colleges in Forbes’ annual ranking covered in an article by Orlando Business Journal on July 29. The criteria Forbes used included: the amount of student debt; graduation rates; student satisfaction rates; and career success of graduates.

Political Science Professor T. Wayne Bailey, Ph.D., provided commentary on the possibility of Volusia County allowing employees to run for office for The Volusia County Council in an article by The Daytona Beach News-Journal on July 25.

On July 27, the University of North Dakota news reported that law professor Peter Lake would be visiting to discuss roles of advocacy in campus student-conduct process in light of recent change to North Dakota state law regarding legal representation for students.

Chris Squire, the bassist of the British progressive rock group, Yes, recently passed away and was commemorated in an article which reflected on the band’s visit to Stetson in 1971 in The Daytona Beach News-Journal on July 25.

Stetson student Miranda Camp, who is working with the Research Experience for Undergraduates, helped to install a series of instrument profiles around Little Cayman Island to monitor environmental conditions, as reported in Cayman Inews on July 26.

Articles written by Visiting Assistant Professor of Journalism Andy Dehnart, M.F.A., appeared this week in Reality Blurred, an online publication, produced, owned and operated by Dehnart, who writes and edits much of the content. Dehnarts online bio includes his teaching career at Stetson.

The exhibit “A Tradition of Contemporary Ceramics” at the Hand Art Center was featured in Exhibits To See, Orlando Sentinel on July 23.

Alumni in the News:

John Ammar, Stetson finance alumnus, is using his Fortune One Company to open up the real estate market to working class Jamaicans, as reported in Loopjamaica.com on July 27.

On July 23, the Tampa Bay Times reported that Stetson Law alumna Rena Frazier is likely to run for the State House District 59 seat held by Ross Spano.

Melanie Brown, Stetson alumna, was recently named the executive director of St. Johns River State College, as reported in The Florida Times-Union on July 23.

On July 27, Super Lawyers named Stetson Law alumna Katherine Schnauss Naugle to its 2015 Florida Rising Starts list.

On July 2, The Tampa Bay Times ran a letter to the editor article submitted by Law alumnus David. P Carter entitled “A right for all.”

According to the July 29 Memphis Daily News, Olen M. “Mac” Bailey Jr. has received his master of laws degree in elder law with honors from Stetson University College of Law.
