Lynn Bria wins her 300th as Stetson defeats NJIT 74-56

Stetson women’s basketball head coach Lynn Bria won her 300th career game Thursday night as Stetson defeated NJIT 74-56 at the Fleisher Athletic Center.
Hometown product Breana Bey (Jersey City, N.J.) led the way with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five steals as the Hatters (16-8, 7-4 A-Sun) won their 16th game of the season.
“It means a lot,” Bria said about her milestone victory. “It is hard to think about because I have had a lot of good players. Winning is hard. We have won a lot of games at Stetson, and I hope we win a lot more. I am just proud of all the great players and coaches we have had. I am just blessed. You don’t do it all by yourself. It takes everybody to win games.
“I blessed, I am proud, and I am really proud we played so well tonight. I think that meant more than anything was our response tonight to the game. I am just really proud of our kids.”
The Hatters led wire-to-wire Monday night, jumping out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter. Stetson shot 51 percent from the floor and held a 33-25 advantage on the glass.
Brianti Saunders (14 points) and McKenna Beach (13 points) joined Bey in double figures.
Olivia Dudley scored 16 points to lead NJIT (4-22, 1-10).
Bria is in her 20th season as a head coach overall, and her eighth season with Stetson.
Stetson will begin a three-game homestand on Saturday vs. Lipscomb.
