Hatters Visit Orlando on Wednesday, Renew Rivalry With UCF

Stetson men’s basketball can close November on a high note when the Hatters visit longtime rival University of Central Florida at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at CFE Arena.

The game can be seen on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Hatters (3-4) and Knights (4-1) are meeting for the 42nd time in a series which dates back to 1974. Stetson and UCF are former foes within the Atlantic Sun Conference. UCF was an ASUN member from 1992 to 2005.

Stetson enters Wednesday’s game following an impressive 98-90 win over Florida A&M at the Savannah Invitational last Saturday. Playing without Divine Myles and Brian Pegg, the Hatters rallied from a 10-point deficit behind 33 points from Derick Newton and a 20-point, 12-assist performance by Angel Rivera.

UCF and first-year head coach Johnny Dawkins also earned a win in its last outing, defeating Seattle, 67-51, on Saturday. Guard B.J. Taylor leads the Knights in scoring at 17 points per game.

News & Notes

Stetson has three November wins for the third straight season but just the fourth time in the last 10 years.

Stetson has never won four games in the month of November.

Angel Rivera not only dished a career-high 12 assists against Florida A&M, but he also became the 9th player in school history to reach 300 career assists.

Divine Myles missed last Saturday’s game with Florida A&M, snapping a streak of 66 consecutive starts and 70 straight games played.

Derick Newton (19.7) and Divine Myles (17.2) rank 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the ASUN in scoring.

Stetson leads the ASUN in opponents’ field-goal percentage (.437).
