Students invited to Campus Climate Forum with President Libby, Cabinet on April 12

Students will have the opportunity to ask questions of Stetson University President Wendy B. Libby and her Cabinet on Wednesday, April 12, related to the recent Campus Climate Study.

The Student Government Association is hosting the Campus Climate Forum on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. to give students the chance to ask questions about the survey and steps for improvement recently outlined by the President and Cabinet, said SGA President Jeff Hahn. The forum will take place in Rinker Auditorium in the Lynn Business Center, room 108.

Libby set a goal in 2014 and formed a task force charged with addressing one of the university’s foundational strategic map goals of making the university “a diverse community of inclusive excellence.”

The Campus Climate Study results are posted online for the Stetson community, and the president has been keeping the university up to date on events and actions to move the university forward. For example, during the General Faculty Meeting on Feb. 24, Libby and her Cabinet members outlined steps that they will take to improve the climate and retention at Stetson.

“This is a unique opportunity for the students to interact with the President and Cabinet, especially on a topic as sensitive as this one,” said Hahn, adding this is the first student forum with the President and her Cabinet during his time at Stetson. It was organized following meetings between SGA leaders, Libby and Lua Hancock, Stetson Vice President of Campus Life and Student Success, he added.

The Forum will include refreshments, a chance to mingle with Libby and senior administrators, and dessert following the question-and-answer period. Students will have a chance to submit questions anonymously at the forum, if they’d like, Hahn said.
