  The latest issue of the International Jurist magazine features Stetson’s LL.M. in International Law Program in the LL.M. News: South (page 9) and gives the program a grade of A+ for Best Law School Experience (page 22). Stetson’s LL.M. (Master of Laws) programs are listed in the Graduate Guide in the issue as well.

• News of Michael Allen, professor of law at Stetson, being tapped for a federal judgeship in Washington at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims has been reported by the June 14 WUSF NPR morning news. The news also was reported in the ABA Journal article, “Trump Announces 11 More Judicial Nominees, Including a Judge From His SCOTUS List.” The June 8 Political Insider and SaintPetersblog also ran the news, as well as multiple national media outlets including the June 9 World News.
• K.C. Ma, Ph.D., professor of finance, was quoted in the article, “Why Experts Love These 3 Restaurant Stocks.” Ma said, “Dave & Buster’s serves uniquely as an ‘adult’ arcade, a sort of Chuck E. Cheese’s for grownups. The bulk of D&B’s profit comes from its high-margin games and amusements,” posted by U.S. News & World Report June 8.
• Christopher Ferguson, Ph.D., professor of psychology, was quoted in the article, “‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Debacle Could Help the Show, Experts Say.” Dating shows carry “some potential for risk to be sure,” Ferguson said. “Contestants may be pushed by producers toward actions they wouldn’t normally take,” posted by San Francisco Chronicle Online and several other outlets June 13.
• According to the article, “Stetson University Selects Winning Lecture Capture Solution from Matrox & Ensemble Video,” Stetson will be launching the Centurion Sales Excellence Program in the fall of 2017, posted by StreamingMedia.com June 8.
• Louis Virelli, law professor, was quoted on the issue of executive privilege in the news report, “Can Sessions Choose Not to Answer Congressional Questions?” Virelli said, “Being under oath and being compelled to answer the question are different things,” posted by 10 News June 13.
• Kirsten Davis, law professor and director of the legal research and writing program, wrote the blog article, “Why Does Comey Get an ‘A’ in Legal Writing for His Written Testimony?” posted on the Lady Legal Writer blog June 10.
• Peter F. Lake, professor of law,  was quoted in the article, “Colorado Case Puts Focus on Colleges’ Handling of Alleged Domestic Violence.” Lake said, “It has been a challenge to get people to reimagine the reporting structure they’ve always known; that you go to your supervisor, and only your supervisor,” posted by Chronicle of Higher Education Online June 14.

• The June 9 Plant City Observer reported that LL.M. in International Law alumna and former circuit judge Ashley Moody will seek the GOP nomination to succeed J.D. alumna Attorney General Pam Bondi.
• The June 13 Election Law Academics Update in the Election Law Blog announced that law professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy was awarded the Leroy Highbaugh Sr. Research chair by Stetson University College of Law in 2017.
• The June 9 Journal-Sentinel reported that Mark T. Cumba, adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, received the Edward D. Ohlbaum Professionalism Award at Stetson University College of Law’s Educating Advocates: Teaching Advocacy Skills conference.
• The June 14 SRQ Sarasota Magazine reported that Williams Parker has announced five law school students have joined the firm’s summer associate program, among them, Diana L. Berlin and Barbara D. Negron, both of Stetson University College of Law.
• The June 14 Elder Law Prof Blog “FINRA Guidance and Rogue Brokers” was written by Rebecca Morgan, professor of law. The article, “The Department of Labor Fiduciary Rule,” was also written by Professor Morgan for the June 12 Elder Law Prof Blog. Professor Morgan also wrote about a free upcoming webinar on the “Impact of Undue Influence, Advanced Webinar on Elder Abuse,” in the June 12 Elder Law Prof Blog. Professor Morgan wrote the June 9 Elder Law Prof Blog article, “Veterans ‘Hidden’ Benefits.”

• Shawn Moore, graduate of Stetson University, wrote the article, “A Web CMS for the Modern Advertising Agency,” in which he discussed the history of the Solodev Web Experience Platform and its place in the CMS industry, posted by Solodev June 7.
• Alison McKellar, graduate of Stetson University, responded to a series of questions in the article, “Camden Select Board Candidate Alison McKellar.” McKellar is a candidate running for the Camden Select Board, posted by Penbaypilot June 8.
• The June 10 BizWireExpress reported that several Law alumni at Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., were selected for inclusion in the 2017 Florida Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists appearing in Florida Super Lawyers magazine. Among them are Suzanne M. Boy, Employment & Labor; Traci T. McKee, Professional Liability Defense; John M. Miller, Civil Litigation Defense; and Kayla E. Richmond, Family Law. • According to the June 13 CityBizList, the new office of Hall Booth Smith will be co-managed by J. Brent Allen and Law alumnus Duke Regan.
• Kevin Tweddle, graduate of Stetson University, was featured in the article, “ICBA Names Kevin Tweddle As Group Executive Vice President, Innovation And Financial Technology.” According to the article, Tweddle has joined The Independent Community Bankers of America as Group Executive Vice President, posted by Publicnow June 14.
• According to Double the LL.B., Paul Carter received his bachelor of law degree from Stetson in 1907. He received a second LL.B. from Georgetown.
