  • Stetson University was listed among schools in the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF) offering direct assistance to students displaced by the recent hurricanes, according to the Capital Soup article, “ICUF Offer Assistance to Students in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” posted Oct. 18. Stetson is waiving room charges for the Spring 2018 semester to new students from the affected islands, and offering support, such as counseling and financial assistance, as needed.
  • Valrie Chambers, Ph.D., professor of accounting at Stetson University, was quoted in the article, “What a Tax Overhaul Could Mean for You.” Chambers said, “It’s hard to say what would happen to Middle America. Their individual taxes will vary. However, what we do know is that the proposed framework is very costly and would cause the deficit to balloon.
