• Christopher Ferguson, Ph.D., professor of psychology, wrote an article for The Hill entitled, “World Health Organization fuels moral panic with ‘gaming disorder’ diagnosis.” Ferguson wrote, “This marks the first time a hobby has been classified as a disease. … Unfortunately, with ‘gaming disorder’ the WHO has made a serious mistake, pathologizing normal behavior despite a weak scientific basis for their decision.”

• Stetson’s Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience, and Executive Director Clay Henderson were mentioned in a June 24 article in The Daytona Beach News-Journal, entitled “Concerns raised about state’s springs action plans.” Environmentalists say the state’s action plans to improve water quality in Florida “outstanding” springs are inadequate. In a letter to the state, Henderson said “the state’s proposal doesn’t identify a financially feasible plan for reducing nitrogen, failed to identify specific projects to replace septic tanks, and ‘significantly exaggerated’ the benefits of the projects proposed to reduce nitrogen,” according to the article.
