    Scott Jones, Ph.D., program director of sport business at Stetson University, left, welcomes Stan Van Gundy to campus as he prepares to teach a special topics class in January.

    Stan Van Gundy, a current NBA analyst for ESPN and “a frequent visitor on the Dan Le Batard Show” recently accepted a position on Stetson’s campus as an instructor in the sports business program. He was featured in an article for the Bradenton Herald, and according to the piece he will  “teach a special topics class that will examine the ethical, management and leadership aspects of sport business.” Van Gundy will begin in January.

  • Executive Director of the Stetson Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience, Clay Henderson, J.D., was mentioned in an article for Flagler Live regarding a planned project to “restore more than 110 acres of Intracoastal Waterway marshes.” He was the moderator at a district board meeting to discuss the project.

Those costs may be deductible.” “Many employers offer plans that allow you to pay a portion of your medical expenses with pre-tax dollars,” Chambers said. “This is a very good deal – almost a guaranteed 15 to 25 percent discount for most services. It helps to absorb the economic shock of an illness – and it is a shock.”

  • Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy was a guest on the Nov.1 MPR News. “Outside money in Minnesota’s campaigns.” Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy wrote the Nov. 3 HuffPost article, “Florida Has A Chance To Make Civil Rights History In This Election.” Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy is quoted in the Nov. 7 Washington Monthly article, “Will Republicans Steal Power From New Democratic Governors?”

  • Alumnus Jeff Bates was mentioned in a press release in Public Now stating that the Florida Hospital of DeLand has named him the “director of operations.” In Bates’ new role, he will “provide director-level oversight for rehabilitation services, in addition to the facilities, environmental services, and materials management departments.”
  • Thomas Rebman ‘11 was featured in two articles for his work with resource centers in Palm Bay for the homeless. In 2016, Rebman was recognized by local news for living homeless for a year in order to empathize and advocate for the homeless population. This year, he was named “volunteer liaison” by the Palm Bay City Council for all matters related to homelessness.
  • Stetson Alumna Stacey Morris published an article titled, “Crude Spreads Here, There, And Everywhere – What It Means For Midstream” at Seeking Alpha. Morris discusses the crude oil market and its effects on the midstream sector. “Refinery turnaround season,” writes Morris, “particularly in the Mid-Continent of the U.S. has likely exacerbated already tight crude pipeline takeaway capacity in Canada and the Bakken. For midstream companies, the number of crude price blowouts is tangible evidence of the need for infrastructure.”
  • Stetson Alumna Elizabeth Diaz was featured in a 40 under 40 article by Business Observer. Diaz has five collegiate degrees including an M.B.A. from Stetson and a J.D. from Stetson Law. She is currently a partner at Williams Parker Harrison Dietz & Getzen Law Firm.
