Jason Evans, Ph.D., associate professor of Environmental Science and Studies, was quoted in Florida Trend in “Florida’s water future: Where is it going? Where will it come from?” Current projections have Floridians consuming 17% more water per day in the year 2035. “When it comes to water quality in particular we’ve moved way, way backward,” Evans says. “It has actually reached a crisis point in lots of areas in Florida.”
- Joyce Mundy, Ed.D., assistant professor of Education, was featured in the Restorative Works 2018 Year in Review publication for her work with graduate students at Stetson on promoting diversity and inclusion in the classroom as well as her implementation of restorative justice practices in K-12 schools through the Nina B. Hollis Center for Educational Leadership.

Joyce Mundy Law Professor Royal Gardner is quoted in the Dec. 13 Tampa Bay Times article, “Trump wetlands rule rollback makes about 6 million acres in Florida unprotected.”
- Associate Professor of Mathematics Hari Pulapaka, Ph.D., was featured in the Food Tank article, “A Mathematician, Chef, and Author: “And I’m Not Done,” Says Pulapaka.” Pulapaka, who co-owns and manages Cress Restaurant, said, “Ultimately food on a plate is not just about technique and ingredients: it starts with a story. The story being of the farmer, and the farm—that’s where the story of food begins. So one of the first things I did opening Cress was identify the folks in our immediate area in central Florida who have been growing food for quite some time.”

Hari Pulapaka Professor of Psychology Christopher Ferguson, Ph.D., published an article in Daily News on Dec. 11 titled, “Where there’s smoke, there’s no fire: Don’t blame movies for getting young people hooked on cigarettes.” Ferguson writes, “To be clear, smoking is dangerous, and efforts to reduce smoking among teens and adults are great. I have no particular desire to see more smoking in movies. But by spreading dubious statistics about movies causing deaths based on weak and correlational data, groups like the CDC and Surgeon General do great harm to the credibility of their otherwise worthy efforts.”
- Professor Emeritus of Political Science, T. Wayne Bailey, Ph.D., co-wrote an opinion article in the Daytona Beach News-Journal titled “Rift pushes Volusia into dangerous waters.” In the article, he discusses the recent conflict between the Volusia County sheriff and the County Council majority and its basis in the passage of Amendment 10.
