Current COVID-19 Cases on Campus 

The last few days have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases on campus in DeLand. We are working very hard to address these cases and ensure all of the proper follow up is occurring as fast as possible. You can check the daily status of cases on our results webpage. Please continue to report concerns for yourself and others in the community using www2.stetson.edu/reportit. We are committed to continuing to support those who need it and to keep an eye on the overall health status of campus. 

Safer Campus Task Force Updates 

Tiers Detailed Now Includes International Travel 
The Tiers Detailed document on the Safer Stetson website has been updated to include international travel as well as domestic travel restrictions. Expectations include requirements related to isolation/quarantine before returning to campus from cruise travel and registering Stetson-sponsored international travel with the Office of Risk Management. See the document for more information. 

Face Coverings Policy Updated 
The policy on face coverings has been updated to provide that “Neck gaiters are not sufficient as a face covering.” Recent studies suggest that neck gaiters may not aid, and may even be counterproductive, in reducing the rate of transmission of COVID-19. 

New FAQs on Safer Stetson 
New FAQs have been added to the Safer Stetson website in these categories: 

• Academics – Teaching, under Other Questions 
  • New information includes what happens if a person who attended a class in person tests positive for COVID-19, and whether anyone in that class would have to quarantine. 

Boost Ordering 
Stetson Dining will be launching Boost Ordering on Aug. 24. This mobile ordering program allows guests to order ahead, and purchase their meal or snack with Hatterbucks or credit card. This is a great tool to save time and encourage social distancing. Stetson also has been selected as a pilot program to install meal swipe capability, which will be piloting soon after our Aug. 20 launch. Through the app, you will be able to customize your selection, view menus and pick up on your schedule. Boost Ordering will be available in all Stetson Dining locations. 

Student Video 
Students are asked to watch a Student Re-population Video that highlights various campus partners and many of the changes you will see on campus this fall. We ask that you take the time to watch this video so that you are informed and can do your part in helping keep our campus safe. To gain access into common spaces on campus, you will need to confirm that you watched the video through the Everbridge app. The video will take 40 minutes to watch. 

Travel Mindfulness 
Stetson students, staff and faculty are asked to be extremely mindful of their personal travel plans. Per the CDC, travel increases your chance of contracting and spreading COVID-19. Every time a member of our community leaves campus and returns, they bring with them new germs and exposures. Stetson will follow current isolation/quarantine requirements per the CDC, DOH and Florida executive orders. This request for travel mindfulness is in addition to those mandates. If you must travel: 

• Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol). 
• Wear a face covering to keep your nose and mouth covered when in public settings.  
• Avoid close contact with others by staying at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from anyone who is not from your household. 
• Do not travel if you are sick or if you have been around someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days. 
• Do not travel with someone who is sick. 
• Avoid contact with anyone who is knowingly sick. 
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. 
• Research your destination before traveling. 
  • If traveling domestically, check state, territorial, tribal and local public health websites for information before you travel. Some state, local and territorial governments have requirements, such as requiring people to wear masks and requiring those who recently traveled to stay home for up to 14 days. 
  • If you are traveling internationally, review the destination’s Office of Foreign Affairs or Ministry of Health or the U.S. Department of State website for details about entry requirements and restrictions for arriving travelers, such as mandatory testing or quarantine. Additionally, review CDC’s COVID-19 Travel Recommendations by Destination. 
• Some types of travel and activities can put you at higher risk for exposure to COVID-19. If you participated in higher risk activities or think that you may have been exposed before or during your trip, take extra precautions (in addition the ones listed above) to protect others for 14 days after you arrive. 

Personal Travel 
Other than cruise ship travel, there are no mandatory post-travel quarantine restrictions in Florida. While Stetson-sponsored travel is significantly restricted through the end of the calendar year 2020, personal travel is not prohibited. When traveling, community members are expected to identify and avoid high-risk situations where possible, and to follow CDC guidance on required or recommended quarantines. Depending on the circumstance, this may mean that it is may be advisable that an employee self-quarantine following travel. Supervisors should encourage flexibility in allowing returning travelers to work remotely when the travel involved some risk of exposure. 

Wellness Stations 
In our continuing effort to keep our campus community informed of our strategies for keeping you safe, Stetson University will be implementing Wellness Stations for daily screening on the DeLand campus beginning Aug. 24. Wellness Stations will provide an additional layer to our COVID-19 response plan and act as an alternative for Stetson’s electronic screening system offered by Everbridge. This station is used to screen visitors coming to the DeLand campus (other than vendors coordinated by facilities) and as a resource to Stetson students, faculty and staff who do not have the Everbridge App or who have difficulty using the app that day. 

Community members should complete Everbridge daily Wellness Checks via the app (instruction below) or email prior to coming to or moving about campus each day. Members of the Stetson community who cannot (or choose not) to complete daily screening through Everbridge should utilize the on-campus Wellness Stations shared above. Wellness Stations will also be able to assist individuals who completed their Wellness Check incorrectly on the app but would like to move about campus that day. The daytime Wellness Station will be on the lower level of the Rinker Welcome Center and will operate Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Public Safety will be the after-hours Wellness Station location. 

Accessing the Everbridge App 

• Download the Everbridge Mobile Safety application 
  • Google Play 
  • Apple Store 
• Once installed, search for “Stetson University.” 
• After selecting “Stetson University,” log in utilizing your Stetson email credentials.  

*Wellness Checks may not be accessible the same day as the download due to the timing of the push notification. Please utilize an on-campus Wellness Station in the event that the Everbridge daily screening is not available.

Visitor Restrictions 
Campus visits are restricted to necessary visitors only. The university cabinet remains responsible for defining what is a necessary visitor for their areas. Questions on what is necessary in each division, school, and college should be directed to the supervising university cabinet member. 

Campus hosts are responsible for communicating the current visitor policy to their guests prior to the guest’s arrival on campus. This includes informing visitors that they will not be permitted on campus if they are experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms or have a known COVID-19 exposure. 

“Visitors” refers to all guests of the university, other than postal carriers/delivery drivers and external vendors who are permanently assigned to work at a Stetson campus. 

The following rules apply to all visitors and are effective Aug. 24: 

• All visitors must check in at a centralized location and show a valid photo ID. DeLand visitor check in locations are: 
  • Rinker Welcome Center – M-F, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 
  • Public Safety — S-S, 24 hours; M-F, before and after business hours  
  • Facilities Management – M-F, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This location is for facilities contractors and facilities employees only. 

• A COVID-19 screening, including a brief questionnaire and a non-invasive temperature check, is required for all visitors. The questionnaire responses will be reviewed and compared to the current screening rubric. If a visitor indicates potential COVID-19 symptoms or a potential COVID-19 exposure, they will be asked to leave campus. Campus staff will record the visitor’s name, contact information, and the name of their campus host. 
• Visitors will receive day badges and are required to display them on their person. Badges will be color coded by day. 
• All visitors are required to wear a face covering while on campus. If a visitor does not have their own covering, one will be provided to them at the check-in station. 
• Before- and after-hours visitors must visit Public Safety for screening. 
• Campus hosts are responsible for accompanying underage visitors at all times. 
• Campus hosts are responsible for greeting their guests at the exterior door of their building and granting access. 

Building Access 
In our continuing effort to keep our campus safe, we are leaving all exterior building doors locked. This will require you to use your Stetson ID to gain access into buildings. All faculty, staff and students will need to carry their Stetson ID cards with them at all times. If you lose your ID card, you must report it immediately to Public Safety at 386-822-7300 or the ID Card Office at 386-822-7782 so that the card can be deactivated. The cost to reprint the card will be $20, payable by cash or credit. 

Lanyards and badge holders will be provided for the entire Stetson community to assist with the carrying of ID cards. Commuter students can pick up their lanyard and badge holder from the north entrance of the CUB. Building Coordinators can pick up lanyards and badge holders from the Warehouse beginning next week. To request employee lanyards and badge holders, Building Coordinators will need to provide the Warehouse with a list of employees they are requesting items for via email and schedule a time for pick up. 

We were all taught to hold the door for others, however, Public Safety kindly asks that you do not allow anyone to tailgate in behind you and never prop a door open. Hosts will need to meet their visitors at exterior doors to provide them access to the buildings.
