The Stetson Business School Foundation Inc. is pleased to announce its support of Stetson University School of Business Administration students, as well as students in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences and School of Music, by way of the James H. Maury Jr. Memorial Scholarships.

The late Maury was a 1979 graduate of Stetson University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in finance. Maury proudly served in the U.S. Navy, logging time on a submarine. He established the scholarships via a provision in his will whereby the Stetson Business School Foundation Inc. creates an endowment in his name, with earnings to fund scholarships for School of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Music undergraduate students.

To date, the estate of Maury has distributed more than $530,000 to the Foundation to endow the scholarships.

The first recipients of the new Business School Foundation Inc. James Maury Jr. Memorial Scholarships, awarded for 2022-2023, are:

• Audrey Berlie – College of Arts and Sciences (double major in environmental studies and finance)
• Steven Bratcher – School of Business Administration (accounting major)
• Christopher Kent – School of Business Administration (finance major)
• Sven Thiergard – School of Business Administration (accounting major)

At this time, the School of Music recipient has not yet been determined.

In addition, the Foundation provides annual financial support for School of Business Administration students, faculty and programs. In its 2020-2021 fiscal year, the Foundation provided more than $86,000 in merit and need-based scholarships to business students, as well as more than $4,000 to students assisting business faculty with research projects.

The Foundation also provided $15,000 of funding for the JJ Master Center for Professionalism, which is focused on the professional and career development of business students and $5,000 to fund internship support scholarships.

Established in 1969, the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and is governed by a board consisting of Stetson alumni and community leaders. Its purpose is the financial support of the faculty, students and programs of the Stetson School of Business Administration.
