• TV station Fox 35 Orlando featured Stetson in numerous segments of its series “John Brown in Your Town: Deland,” which was initially broadcast May 6. The station interviewed Stetson President Christopher F. Roellke, PhD, in the segment “John Brown in Your Town: Stetson University.” “We’ve been neighbors since 1883,” Roellke said, referring to the city of DeLand. “And one of the things Henry DeLand really cared about when he founded the city of DeLand was arts, culture and education. So, we’ve had a strong relationship ever since that time … . The relationship is really synergistic.”

The station also interviewed men’s basketball coach Donnie Jones in the segment, “John Brown in Your Town: Stetson Basketball Coach.” The station interviewed alumnus Chris Cloudman, a former associate director of Boundless Learning on campus and the current DeLand Mayor in the segment “John Brown in Your Town: DeLand Growth.”

The Weekly Times, Cairns Post, Mercury and other media outlets also featured the “John Brown in Your Town: Stetson University” segment.
