GIVING CHALLENGE: What’s New in 2024?

We are two weeks away from our second annual Giving Challenge, and we want to know: Are you up for the challenge again? For 36 hours on March 20-21, you get to #TipYourHat4Stetson and decide where your gift goes. We have 14 funds for you to choose from, including four new funds: Cross Cultural Center, Student Support Fund, Greek Life and Edmunds Center Renovations.

Cross Cultural Center

The Cross Cultural Center or “Tri-C” is home to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and has become a safe space open to all university students, faculty and staff. We are invested in partnering with various offices, departments and student groups to provide programs, trainings and workshops to further inclusive excellence on our campus.

Tri-C is home to:

* Multicultural Student Council — organizing student efforts to increase belonging and inclusion at Stetson through a council comprised of eleven student organizations and a student-led executive board.

* WISE Program — facilitating the empowerment, engagement and success of first-generation students who identify as belonging to a historically minoritized or underrepresented population academic fortitude, social awareness, and financial growth through mentoring underrepresented student populations.

* Gender and Sexuality Resources — promoting social identity development and building LGBTQ+ awareness, inclusion and accommodation skills for students, staff and faculty through national “Safe Zone” curriculum training.

* Interfaith Prayer Room — enabling students to engage in their personal religious practices in a safe, private and comfortable space.

Student Support Fund

The Student Support Foundation (SSF) at Stetson University provides immediate and/or sustainable support to the campus community through student-facilitated philanthropic leadership to meet the university’s mission of fostering personal growth, intellectual development and global citizenship in all students. Financial assistance focuses on providing relief for students suffering from costs like books, school supplies, emergency travel, food, clothing, housing, medical expenses and leadership development.

Your gifts allow students to pursue their educational and career goals and prevent dropout rates due to financial and mental hardships. All gifts go directly to students at Stetson who need additional support for their educational endeavors.

SSF is grateful for the gifts that allow the organization to continue supporting community needs.

Greek Life

Through Greek Life, Stetson speaks a language of leadership development, mentorship and lifelong networking — all under guidance and support from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Involvement. A total of 17 active chapters and three governing councils create a welcoming environment that is filled with learning, growing and, of course, having fun.

During this year’s Giving Challenge, you can make a gift to your favorite fraternity or sorority. Or, you can choose to support the newly established Greek Leadership fund.

Edmunds Center Renovations

Originally built in 1974 as Stetson’s largest multi-use facility for both team sports (basketball and volleyball) and university events, the Edmunds Center also remains the largest indoor sporting venue in west Volusia County. Now, designs call for the center to meet current ADA code standards while also being enhanced aesthetically as a showpiece for Hatters Athletics.

Among the additions are a new exterior façade and new lobby, including an expansion of concessions and an area dedicated to the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame. Also, there will be new seats and a sound system, along with second floor VIP seating that can double as a classroom.

Make your gift to help bring state of the art updates for this well-loved building on campus!
