Mark this date on your calendar and color it in Stetson Green — March 22 (Friday/tomorrow!) — will be Hatters Hoops all afternoon, especially at 2:45 p.m. EST. That’s when the Stetson Hatters take on the UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament. It’s the first appearance ever for the men’s team in what’s also called the Big Dance and March Madness. 

UConn is the defending national champion. The game will be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and broadcast nationally on CBS and streamed on NCAA March Madness Live. 

As for the Stetson campus, the city of DeLand, across Florida and in multiple states, there will also be plenty of action in the form of watch parties!

Campus Watch Party

On campus, a watch party will be held in the CUB as part of the previously scheduled Ice Cream Walk. The game will be shown in CUB Room 280 (the student lounge), as well as the Coffee Shop and in “as many other places as possible,” according to Jimmy Kelly, Stetson’s director for Student Development and Campus Vibrancy.

The Ice Cream Walk will feature 10 flavors of ice cream, available to all students, faculty and staff. The walk begins at 1:30 p.m. and continues until 4 p.m., with the watch party starting at 2:30 p.m. until the game ends (approximately 4:30-5 p.m.)
