• The NPR program “Here & Now” interviewed Louis Virelli, JD, professor of Law, for the July 1 broadcast, “Supreme Court ends term with major decisions on presidential immunity, government regulations.” The program aired on more than 40 public radio stations across the country. Also, Spectrum News 13 quoted Virelli in a July 1 story about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on a case involving state regulation of social media.

“One thing that’s going to make this (presidential immunity) particularly complicated  . . . is that the court prohibits any consideration of presidential motive in trying to establish whether A, a crime occurred, or B, something was official or unofficial,” Virelli said. “The idea that the President was talking to the Attorney General with the motive of overturning an election, I think we’d all agree, is very different than the President talking to the Attorney General with a good faith concern about election integrity, but that distinction is not allowed to be made in determining whether something is official or unofficial.”
