On Sept. 8, Stetson staffer Chris Griffin, director of Veteran Services, and student Ethan Saylor were featured by Spectrum News 13 in a segment of Everyday Heroes, Honoring 9/11 Victims.

On Sept 5, among several other media outlets, The Daytona Beach News-Journal cited Professor Rajni Shankar-Brown, PhD, in Daytona Beach nonprofit launches fund to honor David Axelrod, former Volusia poet laureate. Shankar-Brown is the Stetson’s Jessie Ball duPont Endowed Chair of Social Justice Education.

As highlighted on BroadwayWorld.com in the Sept. 2 article Opera Orlando Welcomes 2025-26 Apprentice & Studio Artists, two Stetson voice majors — soprano Alyssa Pimentel and tenor Evan Martinez — will be featured on stage in October as part of the production La Bohème.

On Aug. 29, Fox 49 Morning News reported about what has become known as Trenton’s Law. It’s the story of how the death of Trenton Stewart, a former football player at Stetson, has led to harsher penalties for repeat DUI offenders in Florida.

The city of DeLand continues to make news for being both a historic place to live and a vibrant college town, according to media outlets such as Family Destinations Guide, which published 8 Small Towns In Florida That Are A Dream Come True For Antique Lovers on Aug. 25. Also, The Overlooked Town In Florida To Retire On A Monthly Budget Of $1,800 Or Less was posted Aug. 18.

On the Aug. 23 broadcast of The Attorney Patrick Smith Show, Stetson and Stetson’s College of Law literally ruled the day, highlighted by College of Law Dean Benjamin Barros, JD, and undergraduate student Madison Lavender, a. sophomore. In the words of Barros, the show became an “hour-long advertisement for Stetson and Stetson Law.” Patrick Smith, JD, is a 2002 graduate of Stetson’s College of Law.

Professor of Psychology Chris Ferguson, PhD, was part of the Aug. 19 article Attention, Anxiety and Addiction: Are Smartphones and Social Media to Blame for Kids’ Mental Health? It was published by USSA News. Also, Ferguson appeared in MSN’s mid-August article Is Conscientiousness Cratering? It Depends on How You Twist the Data. In addition, Ferguson contributed to the Aug. 27 article Are Smartphones and Social Media Hurting Kids’ Mental Health? The article was published by Survival World.

As reported in the article Meet an NVIDIA Cloud Security Architect Keeping AI Safe, alumna Laura Seletos’ curiosity about security was sparked at Stetson, where she majored in Computer Information Systems and graduated in 2012. The article was posted on Aug. 18 by NVIDIA, which specializes in Information Intelligence.

Hatters first-year head coach Mike Jasper wants to bring Stetson football back to ‘glory days’ in 1st year as coach, as featured Aug. 15 in The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
