Roland George Investments Program Brings ‘Shark Tank’-Style Showcase to Downtown Orlando

One of Stetson’s signature programs, the Roland George Investments Program (RGIP), will take its showcase on the road next month for the first time. The “Shark Tank”-style pitch night will happen at the Citrus Club in Downtown Orlando on Nov. 5. The showcase is free and open to the public with 160 seats available.
With the theme of AI Infrastructure for this showcase, five student teams will pitch their research findings on their chosen company to RGIP trustees. The trustees will vote for the best presentation, and the top three teams will receive cash prizes, with the first-place team splitting $1,000.
Winning teams will also receive the trustees’ approval to invest a portion of the university’s endowment in the companies they recommend. The companies presented by the teams will include: Jacobs Solutions (J), BWX Technologies (BWXT), Broadcom Inc. (AVGO), Quanta Services Inc. (PWR) and GE Vernova Inc. (GEV).
Established in 1980, RGIP is among the nation’s top Student Managed Investment Funds, based on assets under management, currently more than $6 million. As part of this successful program, students function much like an investment management firm, investing a portion of Stetson’s endowment fund and returning all profits back into the endowment. Additionally, these students enjoy a 100% success rate after graduation and many of them field multiple job offers in the industry.
The RGIP Showcase is designed to be an entertaining and engaging inside look at one of Stetson’s signature experiential learning programs. RGIP students apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting by presenting equity research with their own recommendations and through fielding questions from industry practitioners.

“Since the inception of RGIP, we’ve held a mandate to engage in financial literacy with the community,” said Matthew Imes, PhD, director of the Roland George Investments Program and an associate professor of Finance. “Hosting this showcase in Orlando underscores that commitment as our student teams present equity research on a hot button topic, AI infrastructure, before trustees, alongside prospective students, alumni and members of CFA Orlando. It’s going to be an exciting evening.”
The event is open to community members, alumni, prospective students and chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholders from the CFA Society Orlando. Appetizers will be served; a cash bar will be available. RSVP is required to secure seating.
